Mistletoe (Phoradendron species) is a parasitic plant which takes water and nutrients from the host plant. Spreading by sticky seed which many birds enjoy, mistletoe spreads quickly and is very difficult to fully remove once established. It can permanently weaken wood fiber and kill host branches.
Removal of mistletoe by hand significantly reduces its spread. It usually re-sprouts so a treatments plan is recommended. Ask our Certified Arborist or schedule a consultation to learn more.
